Bellway has been developing its ‘digicrib’ over the last eight months in conjunction with a leading Welsh installation company – PAI Group from Llanelli. The developer will unveil the finished product at Brookthorne Heath – a development that combines the benefits of being located in a sough-after suburb with all the advantages of city-centre living.

The idea of ‘digicribs’ was coined having conducted research amongst potential purchasers to identify what people would expect from a high-tech apartment.

Using the research findings as inspiration, the end result sees the living room, kitchen and bedrooms all boasting a pre-programmed lighting system that, at a touch of a button, sets the lighting levels to suit your mood. Owners will also be able to listen to their favourite tunes throughout the apartment via the built-in IPod docking station in the living room also the lounge and bedrooms will all have independently controllable touch panels, which enable you to select up to four different audio sources, two being digital radio stations of your choice. And with built in speakers throughout the property including the bathroom and en suites, how better to relax in the shower or bath listening to the music of your choice. But that’s not all, they’ve also included a little light therapy with their LED back-lit feature, thus creating a perfect relaxing ambience. The ‘digicrib’ has also been installed with a Cat6 network, providing a point-to-point network and full IT connectivity.

Billie Oaten, sales director at Bellway Homes, explains how the company wanted to create something that would meet with customer requirements: “Increasingly, we find that buyers are looking for properties that not only boast high-specification kitchens bathrooms and plush interiors but are also asking for additions such as broadband connection, mood lighting and speaker systems. As a house-builder that is proud and committed to its customers, we felt it was our duty to create something that would meet with those requirements.

“Having conducted a straw poll amongst potential purchasers, it became clear that among the top five gadgets they’d expect from a high-tech apartment were things such as wireless broadband connection, mood lighting and speaker systems. We have ensured the digicrib encompasses all those requirements, making the apartment the prefect purchase for twenty-first century house-hunters.”

In addition to the modern, high-tech spec, purchasers of the ‘digicrib’ will receive a complimentary iPod. A Sky dish will also be installed at the property should you wish to link up to the services of Sky.

Prices start from £135,000 for a digicrib.
