Housebuilder Barratt Mercia has donated £250 to the baby scanner appeal at Coventry University Hospital after it ran a promotion with NHS staff offering them significant discounts on a new home.

Barratt’s Park View development on Woodway Lane is located within walking distance of the University Hospital and with this in mind Barratt Mercia offered all NHS employees £1,000 discount off for every £25,000 they spent on a property there.

In return for the hospital’s support, Barratt provided a donation to the baby scanner appeal, which will go towards updating the current equipment, providing new pieces of equipment and training staff in scanning techniques and how to interpret the results.

Senior Sales Manager for Barratt Mercia, Angie Clark and Field Sales Manager Annette Pierpoint went along to the children’s ward at to present the cheque and find out how important the scanner equipment is to the staff and patients.

A new baby, born the night before was introduced to Annette and Angie as doctors showed the pair how the scanner was able to detect hip bone defects at an early stage, therefore preventing the risk of future problems.

Andrew Gaffey Orthopaedic and Trauma Consultant said, “The scanner appeal was set up to improve the scanning equipment available at the hospital so we can get an accurate picture of what’s going on inside baby’s hip joints. The money is also put to good use in the ongoing training of our sonographers and physiotherapists.

“We are so pleased that Barratt Mercia has been able to contribute to the fund and it was a real pleasure showing them around the ward.”

Park View comprises 69 one- and two-bedroom apartments and is ideally situated within close proximity to all local amenities, such as a Tesco superstore, bowling and cinema complex, along with restaurants and bars also close by.

It is also practical for connections to all major motorways and is within walking distance of local primary and high schools.

Prices start at £120,200 and the key worker offer is still available for NHS staff and indeed any key workers in the area.
