Henley's Christmas lights look brighter Housebuilder David Wilson Mercia is supporting Henley in Arden this winter with a donation to the Christmas lights fund after it began work on a development of new homes in the town.

With construction well underway at the Henley Point development, located just off the High Street, David Wilson Mercia has contributed £250 towards the upkeep of the Christmas lights which are managed by the Henley and Beaudesert Christmas Lights Working Party.

The whole town has been working hard to raise enough money to fund the lights this year which needed to be replaced at a cost of around £13000. Maintaining the lights is also a major expenditure as Les Goodman, Chair of the Working Party explained, “Although we get a grant from both Beaudesert & Henley Joint Parish Council and Stratford District Council we always too look residents and local firms to help support the Christmas lights which have to be checked every day they are in use.

“This year is particularly costly since it is the first time in 14 years that we have needed to replace the entire set, so we are extremely grateful to David Wilson Mercia for their support.”

Chris Ashmore, Sales Director for David Wilson Mercia added, “Henley’s famed High Street is its backbone and felt it was crucial to ensure the lights remain a feature along it this year and for years to come, since it is something that the future residents of Henley Point will certainly enjoy.”

David Wilson Mercia is building a collection of 34 new homes on the old Abraisive Developments site behind Millfield Court, at the north end of the High Street. Henley Point will comprise a range of one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom executive apartments and houses located adjacent to the River Alne with views across to the Mount.

The development is to launch from Henley Golf Club on Wednesday 28th November from 4pm until 8pm. For more information and to obtain an invitation to the launch log on to Dwh.co.uk.

The Christmas lights switch on is due to take place on Saturday 1st December at 5pm at the Market Cross. Residents will be entertained by a silver band from the British Legion and will be able to enjoy mulled wine and mince pies.
