New Sales Director takes the Barratt Homes helm Halesowen-based housebuilder Barratt West Midlands has welcomed Graydon Worthing to the position of Sales Director after the early retirement of his predecessor, David Child.

Graydon will head up the division after a solid 25 years experience in the property industry, latterly as Sales Director for competitor Bryant West Midlands, based in Warwick.

After spending his teenage years as trainee butcher, Graydon took his first steps into a career in house building in 1988. He worked in his birth town of Bromsgrove for estate agent Banks and Silver, just miles from Alvechurch where he grew up. There, his talents were rewarded when he was appointed Mortgage Services Manager and then Area Sales Manager.

A further 10 years was spent with GA Property Services during which time he ran the new homes division. Graydon then moved to Bryant Homes initially as Sales Manager in 1998 and then two years later, in 2000, he was made Sales Director of the West Midlands Region.

Graydon said, "I am thrilled to have joined Barratt West Midlands' team, especially since the role gives me the opportunity to work within my home turf once again. I am honoured to be picking up the helm from David Child whose near 30 years at the division was impressive.

"Certainly I have arrived during a particularly challenging time for the industry.

However, people still want to buy and most importantly they want to buy new. Whilst raising the finance is a challenge for many buyers we often have the means to facilitate a house move and I hope my time at Barratt will see a positive change in market conditions."

Graydon, who lives in Redditch with his wife and two daughters, spends weekends watching West Bromwich Albion play at The Hawthorns and has held a season ticket at the club for many years.

Barratt West Midlands currently has more than 20 developments across the region from Telford to Solihull, including a development of nearly 300 stylish apartments at Skyline in Birmingham city centre. The division also builds traditional family homes. For more information visit Barratthomes.co.uk.
