Well connected in Rugby
A Coventry couple have been swayed by Rugby's excellent ‘connectivity' in buying their first home together. And specifically Caldecott Manor by George Wimpey West Midlands (a new flagship £35 million brownfield development of 230 new homes on the site of the former GEC plant on Boughton Road) which is just north of the railway station and south of Junction 1 of the M6.Stuart Field and Niamh Bergin (both age 29) commute to work by train daily - Stuart to Birmingham and Niamh to London - and say the new development offers the ideal location, great facilities on the doorstep and value for money. Stuart explains: "We've got an easy 10 minute walk to the station, which is crucial for both of us, it's in a decent part of town, plus there is a supermarket and leisure/retail parks very close by. I grew up in Rugby, so it's nice to be coming home as it were because the town has greatly improved since then."
As one of the very first to buy at Caldecott Manor, Niamh and Stuart were happy to purchase off plan and take advantage of pre-showhome prices and the pick of the best plots. They plumped for an end terrace three-bedroom townhouse in the new Brecon style, which has a master bedroom, with private en-suite, up in the heavens that features dormer windows, sloping ceilings and enchanting roof lights.
Niamh adds: "It wasn't our original plan to buy a three storey home, but having viewed a very similar property at sister site Catesby Grange on Hillmorton Road, we were impressed by the space available and the flexibility of the layout. I work from home sometimes, so it will be very easy to convert one of the rooms to an office and keep it separate."
Caldecott Manor is a bespoke selection of luxury apartments, mews and detached style homes plus spacious, executive properties - set in a much improved landscape and located just over a mile north of Rugby town centre. Boasting picturesque views to three boundaries (canal, brook, open space), it also offers a more traditional product mix - with increased emphasis on two storey detached homes with gardens and garages rather than high density mews housing.
Current availability includes three bedroom detached homes with garage from a very competitive £179,995, four bedroom detached properties with double garage from only £274,995 and even five bedroom versions from just £299,995.
