The BSI Kitemark is the code to choose

With all the confusion that exists with motoring codes for garages, BSI believe that Kitemark is the only code to choose if a garage wants to maintain its independence.

Quentin Willson the UK's consumer motoring champion commented: "All those codes currently OFT approved are from the motoring industry and have an interest such as selling garage equipment, automotive products or membership subscription. They have a vested interest in the garage's revenue instead of just their quality of service.

"Many of these codes deal primarily with making sure that there is a complaints procedure and that there are several ways to make a complaint." continues Quentin "Kitemark, whilst it includes robust procedures for complaints, promotes the commitment of Kitemark licensees to providing quality, safe and honest services that significantly reduce the occurrence of complaints."

Quentin is a vigorous supporter and believer in Kitemark quality and goes on to say "not only does the Kitemark scheme entail the most rigorous of assessments but it insists upon annual reassessment to make sure that that same quality and service is being delivered. Motorists therefore know that they will get the same quality service every time. Where garages are assessed only once, or in some cases not at all, the motorist cannot possibly have as much confidence in their service. Kitemark is the only mark that the consumer is interested in."

The YouGov statistics show 58% of the UK population would prefer to use a Kitemark garage. In addition 88% of UK adults believing that a Kitemark shows a reputable company there really is no better scheme than the Kitemark.

According to Kevin Steel at Jim Steel Garage Services: "Kitemark has been the best thing we've ever done. We've certainly had a big upturn in work since getting the Kitemark."

Abacus Auto Services based in Redditch: "Garages that don't embrace the Kitemark won't be around in five or ten years' time. The value of the Kitemark can't be underestimated and it's paid for itself many times over. Our customers even told us that it was the Kitemark that was the deciding factor for them in choosing us."
