Redrow sales manager ‘guilty’ of enjoying her job

With a degree in law from a German university and experience as a translator with the European Court of Justice, selling homes wasn’t the obvious career path for Andrea Nippe – but it’s one she loves. Andrea has just been appointed an area sales manager for Redrow Homes, overseeing a number of developments across Devon and Cornwall.

She was previously a field sales manager with Barratt Homes, in Southampton, and prior to that spent five years with Persimmon Homes.

Andrea, 35, who combines her career with bringing up three daughters under seven, originally joined the house building industry as a sales negotiator.

She explained: “I came to the UK from my native Germany, where I started training as a commercial solicitor after graduating with my law degree. Once in the UK I had every intention of pursuing the legal profession but, having bought a new home, got side-tracked into the business of selling properties.

“I previously had some sales and retail environment experience for the Centre Parcs holiday company and found I had a natural talent for selling homes. I love the variety of the job, dealing with different people and managing their expectations. Selling new homes is very much a people business and I love it.”

The legal profession’s loss was Redrow’s gain and she is now responsible for overseeing the day to day sales operation at developments in Launceston, in Cornwall, Devonport and Plympton, near Plymouth, and Tavistock, Devon, as well as a soon-to-be-launched venture of 116 new homes in Newton Abbott.

Currently living in Bristol, with three young children and a full-time career, Andrea has little time for hobbies but does enjoy growing orchids.

Redrow’s properties in Devon and Cornwall are among 5,000 new homes built each year across England, Scotland and Wales. In the West Country, the property mix includes apartments, terraces, townhouses and detached family homes to suit all kinds of buyers.
