Cornish holiday complex goes on the market

Built around 1870 by a local land and quarry owner to provide a village school and chapel for his workers and their families, it was originally known as Cliffe House. From the 1920s it served as a hotel and was acquired by the current owners in 2004.
After sympathetically converting, extending and modernising the main house to create the apartments, the owners began trading as a holiday letting business three years ago and The Cove quickly earned a reputation as a high quality holiday destination in a sought-after location.
Within the original stone house and its recently added extensions are fifteen luxury apartments, all furnished and equipped in a modern boutique style, with plasma TV, DVD and CD players, direct telephone lines, dishwashers and microwaves. Through the main entrance is a reception hall, with an adjacent bar and coffee shop, 35-cover restaurant and sauna, and doors opening to an outdoor swimming pool. The gardens and grounds include woodland, herbaceous borders, lawns and a children’s play area.
Ellis Auger, of the selling agents Savills, says: “The Cove is in a fantastic setting and has been developed to the highest specification. It is even licensed to hold civil marriage ceremonies and would make the perfect location for a romantic wedding.
“The business could continue to operate as a family enterprise or could be bought as an investment property and run by a site manager. Either way, we expect to see considerable interest in this unique property.”
Savills Leisure in Oxford is inviting offers in excess of £2,950,000 for The Cove.
