Roll your way to Goodwood with DVLA’s gravity soapbox challenge

Drivers who would like to rub shoulders with the elite of the British and world motor sport scenes are being given the chance to compete for tickets to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed by DVLA Personalised Registrations, by playing a new web based version of the famous Goodwood Soapbox gravity race.

The game, which tests your skill at steering an unpowered vehicle down the notorious Goodwood hill climb track, calculates driver weight, vehicle and track dynamics to simulate the challenge of steering a ‘soapbox racer’. Anyone achieving a pre-set qualifying time will be able to enter a prize draw for one of nine pairs of tickets to the event on Saturday 8th July, with the overall winner guaranteed a pair of tickets and a trophy.

Louise Pierpoint, publicity manager for DVLA Personalised Registrations, said: "Goodwood Festival of Speed is a great British automotive event. It attracts a very informed audience and we want to celebrate our involvement in a way that they will appreciate. Although the original soapbox race no longer takes place we are hopefully keeping a little bit of British motor sport history, albeit a slightly unusual one, alive through our game."

DVLA Personalised Registrations will have more than 24 million vehicle registrations available to view at Goodwood Festival of Speed through their advanced touch screen based search facility.
