GEAR4 SoundOrb Aurora speaker system for iPod

6th September 2009 Print
As IFA gets underway in Berlin, Germany, GEAR4 announced its flagship launch for 2009, the SoundOrb Aurora. The first made for iPod and works with iPhone speaker system to feature a separate wireless Sub-Woofer for exceptional sound recreation. Including an integrated ambient light, the SoundOrb Aurora is a ground-breaking first for the leading iPod and iPhone accessories brand.

CEO of GEAR4, Tom Dudderidge, commented ‘SoundOrb Aurora’s unique conception and advanced technology work together to provide an impressive audio and visual experience. Few iPod speakers are able to play music or movies with the depth and clarity that SoundOrb Aurora does. The combination of great sound, DSP effects, iconic looks and the built-in mood light help position this speaker as a real first for the iPod/iPhone speaker market.’

Sound The combination of a powerful SoundBar speaker with a separate down-firing Sub-Woofer that can be placed up to 30 metres away, provides a unique spatial quality missing from the sound of other iPod speakers. Its non-directional sub-woofer with extended bass port gives fuller bass with greater depth and impact, while DSP technology incorporates an award-winning sound algorithm to deliver two additional audio settings – Virtual Wide Stereo and Virtual Surround Sound.

Light As well as outstanding acoustic performance, SoundOrb Aurora explores what an audio system can bring to a room beyond sound. Its striking polar white design simultaneously delivers sound and light, with the Sub-Woofer housing light emitting diodes (LED technology). This EveryColour ambient light feature cycles though 1000s of different colours from within the natural spectrum, scientifically proven to complement and relax your experience of music. Users can set it to scroll through colours, stay on a colour of choice (or clean white light) or simply turn
off the light.

Connectivity To really release the full potential of the iPod or iPhone, SoundOrb Aurora has all the necessary connectivity options for use as a home theatre sound system. A video out port allows it to be linked up to a TV to enjoy music videos and movies from the iPod on the big screen and an audio in port means users can enjoy favourite TV and DVD content with all the benefits of SoundOrb Aurora’s powerful Sub-Woofer and 3D sound recreation, bringing music and movies to life.

The SoundOrb Aurora will be on demo this week at the IFA in Berlin, Germany, Europe’s largest consumer electronics show.
