€65,000 raised at Ryanair for Orbis
Ryanair, has offered a sincere thanks to all of its staff and passengers who helped raise €65,000 for ORBIS during the airline’s recent fund raising drive for World Sight Day on October 11th. ORBIS’ famous Flying Eye Hospital carries out invaluable work fighting blindness in some of the world’s poorest nations.Collections for ORBIS were made on all Ryanair flights from both Dublin and London Stansted and the airline has matched each passenger donation euro for euro. Fundraising drives were also organised by Ryanair’s staff to raise funds for this worthy charity.
Ryanair’s Company Secretary, Jim Callaghan, today presented a check for €65,000 to ORBIS Ireland’s Chairman, Maurice Cox, who said:
"ORBIS Ireland would like to thank Ryanair and their staff and passengers for their generosity, which has exceeded all of our expectations. This €65,000 will help to fund an important project in a region of over 2 million people in Ethiopia, the goal of which is to eradicate the debilitating disease of Trachoma.
“Our work in some of the world’s poorest countries continues, so we ask the public to continue in this spirit of generosity and donate now on Orbisireland.ie."
