Ryanair says no disruption during bank holiday strikes
Ryanair intends to operate a full schedule of flights to/from Stansted and Gatwick airports on Monday 25th and Friday 29th August next, even if a planned strike by check-in and baggage handling workers goes ahead.Flights will go ahead by allowing passengers to use Ryanair’s web check-in and carryon luggage only, should the strike go ahead.
Ryanair’s, Stephen McNamara, said:
“Once again UK Unions try to blackmail passengers over one of busiest travel weekends of the year. This is the second time in two years that these trade union chancers have tried to disrupt passengers on the busy August bank holiday weekend. It is irresponsible to hold passengers to ransom and we will not allow it to disrupt Ryanair passengers. We will never allow Ryanair passengers to be blackmailed in this way and if the strike goes ahead we will contact passengers and ask them to use web-check and carry on luggage only so that all Ryanair flights will operate as normal.
“This strike is totally unjustified, union chiefs should be grateful that they are getting any increase at all at a challenging time for the global economy. We call on union and company leaders to resolve the difference without having to strike and blackmail ordinary passengers in this way”.
