Ryanair announces ‘closing down’ sale

4th September 2008 Print
Ryanair today (4 September 2008) marks the recent closure of airlines such as Zoom and Alitalia by intensifying its campaign against high airfares as it released 3 million seats for travel in October and November from just £5 one way (including taxes and charges).

These tickets can be booked only on Ryanair.com for four days from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 September.

This 3 million seat sale continues Ryanair’s Winter Sales campaign which will see Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares reduce by 5% this winter with a guarantee of no fuel surcharge ever.

Speaking today, Ryanair’s Michael Cawley said: “The bankruptcies of high fare airlines, like the most recent failures of Alitalia and Zoom, show that high fares don’t work even in the busiest period of the year.

“Ryanair continues to reduce fares this winter and we are now extending our Winter Sale to November. This “closing down” sale marks the closing of high fare airlines as they struggle to compete with Ryanair’s lowest fares and guaranteed no fuel surcharges. Passengers can take advantage of these 3 million seats from just £5 for travel in October and November.

“Ryanair has seen a huge response to our Winter Seat Sale and advises all passengers to book these £5 seats directly on Ryanair.com and avoid screenscraper, ticket-tout websites which add on hidden mark-ups of between 200% to 300% on top of Ryanair’s ticket prices.

“This 3 million seat sale in October and November proves that Ryanair will continue to replace the era of low fares air travel with a new period of lowest-ever airfares. Ryanair guarantees that no-one will beat our fares so we urge passengers to book these £5 seats for October and November on ryanair.com before midnight on Sunday.”
