Ryanair reports 1.5 million seats sold this week

Ryanair today (Friday, 16th January 2009) announced that it had recorded it best ever week of sales with over 1.5 million seats sold between Friday, 9th and Thursday, 15th January. The airline also recorded its best ever one day sales with over 350,000 seats snapped up by bargain hungry passengers on Monday.

Ryanair’s record sales announcement comes just one day after it announced five new aircraft at its Alicante, Bristol and Edinburgh bases, which will serve 23 new routes across its European network this summer.

Ryanair celebrated its record breaking announcement by releasing 1 million £1 seats for travel across its European network in February and March, which are available for booking on ryanair.com before midnight Sunday, 18th January.

Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:

“Ryanair today celebrates our best ever week of sales with over 1.5 million passengers snapping up our guaranteed lowest fares and no fuel surcharges seats. Ryanair continues to grow as high fares, fuel surcharging, airlines lose passengers to Ryanair’s low fares.

“To celebrate our week of record sales Ryanair is offering 1 million £1 seats for travel across Europe in February and March. These seats will be snapped up fast and are available for booking on ryanair.com until midnight Sunday”.
