Ryanair calendar raises €100,000 for charity
Ryanair today (Tuesday, 20th January 2009) presented Dublin Simon Community with a cheque for €100,000 after all 10,000 copies of its 2009 Ryanair Cabin Crew Charity Calendar sold out in just four weeks. Dublin Simon Community (which provides vital services for the homeless in Dublin) was chosen from over 100 charities throughout Europe to receive the entire sale proceeds from the 2009 calendar.Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:
“Ryanair gives passengers what they really want, namely our guaranteed lowest fares and no fuel surcharges - over 58 million passengers flew with Ryanair last year. We once again delivered a calendar which sold out in a matter of weeks with our cabin crew raising €100,000 for the homeless community in Dublin. We are very proud that our 2009 Cabin Crew Charity Calendar will now make such an enormous difference to the work of the Dublin Simon Community and the lives of the hundreds of homeless people here in Dublin.”
Dublin Simon Community’s Glenda Wright said:
"The amount of money that Ryanair has raised over such a short period of time is truly amazing and we'd like to especially thank all the Ryanair staff who have sold the calendars and, of course, those who volunteered to be part of this worthwhile project. The organisation is hugely grateful for this donation and it will help us continue to provide vital services to those experiencing homelessness in Dublin."
