Ryanair advises passengers to opt-in to travel insurance
Ryanair is warning that passengers who wish to travel with the security of travel insurance must now opt-in when they are making their booking on Ryanair.com.Ryanair advised passengers, especially those who rely on the comfort of preloaded insurance cover, that they will no longer benefit from travel insurance cover unless they opt-in for cover at the time of their booking.
Ryanair advises all passengers to ensure they hold adequate travel insurance for each trip they take, especially those heading to ski slopes or for summer sun where travel insurance can provide added peace of mind and essential financial assistance when needed most.
Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:
“Ryanair carried 58million passengers last year and our preloaded insurance did not cause any problems, passengers who did not want insurance simply opted out. However, to ensure we continue to comply with EU Legislation we have now moved to an opt-in process and advise passengers who frequently use Ryanair travel insurance that they will no longer have insurance cover for their journey if they do not opt-in for cover.
“It is each passenger’s responsibility to buy travel insurance for their trip, and they can secure great value travel insurance when booking their flight on www.ryanair.com. Ryanair’s travel insurance has a great coverage from costly medical treatments to cancellations and lost luggage, but passengers are only covered if they opt-in.
“Ryanair urges passengers to book their Easter break and their travel insurance immediately on ryanair.com. Book your flight now for just €12 one-way all inclusive until Thursday midnight.”
