Spread the word and win a butler for the day
According to Privilege Insurance’s long-running advertising campaign, ‘you don’t have to be posh to be privileged’ – but customers can now win exclusive experiences by recommending the benefits of the insurer’s price guarantee to friends and family.Privilege promises to beat renewal quotes for any driver with four or more years’ no claims discount, and is encouraging customers to spread the word to other safe drivers. For every friend or relative they alert to Privilege’s competitive pricing - using the simple form on the company’s web site (privilege.com) – customers earn a chance to win one of a selection of ‘posh’ prizes.
Depending on their tastes, four winners (to be drawn at random in early September) can choose from the services of their very own butler for the day; a personal feng shui consultation; a pair of Premiership or SPL tickets to the match of their choice; or £500 to spend with the help of a personal shopping expert.
Word-of mouth is central to Privilege’s business, with over half of all customers actually going on to recommend the insurer to others. Those who do approach Privilege as a result of a personal recommendation are themselves more likely to recommend others. This reflects wider trends in society - according to research¹ there has been a real shift in influence away from government and industry towards closer authorities like friends and family. Indeed, 20 per cent of people say that friends and family come to them for advice on financial services. Over 70 per cent agree or strongly agree that if a friend or family member recommends something to them, they are much more likely to consider it³.
Ian Parker, Managing Director of Privilege Insurance, commented:
“More and more consumers are sharing their experience of financial services – good or bad – with their friends and family. Personal recommendation is a powerful influencer when it comes to choosing a product in a crowded market like car insurance, so we wanted to reward those customers who take the time to spread the word about Privilege.”
