Spanair enhances its fleet with the arrival of two Boeing 717s

This month, Spanair incorporates two modern Boeing 717s to its fleet - one at the end of this week, bringing its total number of B717s to seven, alongside the five belonging to AeBal (Aerolineas de Baleares). The new aircraft will enable Spanair to strengthen and meet the needs of its expansion programme focusing on business passenger's routes.

With its 120-seat design, the B717 is cutting edge in terms of limiting atmospheric and noise pollution, guaranteeing minimal exterior and interior noise, at levels much lower than those required to meet even the strictest environmental regulations, and featuring Rolls-Royce/BRR715A engines which greatly reduce fuel consumption and emission of pollutant gases.

Spanair initiated the process of its fleet modernisation with the purchase and incorporation of state-of-the-art Airbus 320 and 321 aircraft - the last A320 entered into service in May - and the Boeing 717s, with the aim of operating even more efficiently and achieve optimal punctuality

As part of its expansion plan, the company has also recruited up to 80 new cabin attendants, 61 new pilots, and confirmed the promotion of 39 captains. In addition, to safeguard adequate operating levels, the company has 3 stand-by aircraft at Madrid-Barajas and El Prat, Barcelona airports.
