Spanair increases Girona - Costa Brava Airport flights

24th September 2007 Print
From the 1st of October, Spanair will add a new flight to its Madrid-Girona timetable, which will now feature 4 daily return flights from Monday to Friday, in view of the great response received from customers using the route.

The fact that over 60,000 people have flown with Spanair since the route was launched on the 29th of January is testimony to the constant growth in passenger traffic between Girona and Madrid. The initial timetable featured two flights, with a further flight being added in mid-April.

With the aim of satisfying the high passenger demand between the two cities, Spanair therefore wishes to strengthen its service to customers on this route, while continuing to ensure the best product for both business and holiday travellers.

The Girona-Madrid flight timetable is therefore tailored to the requirements of business passengers. These clients will also be able to take advantage of the flexibility offered by Business Avant class between the two cities, as it will be possible for them to exchange or combine tickets with those for the Barcelona-Madrid route if they need to alter their airport of departure or destination.

Likewise, in enhancing the route, Spanair is increasing the combinations and travel possibilities for leisure passengers.

The extra flights will also serve to increase connection options with Spanair's extensive domestic and international network, as well as with intercontinental destinations offered by the Star Alliance member carriers.

Furthermore, to strengthen its commitment to the region, in the summer season Spanair launched 3 new routes from Girona to the main Balearic Islands of: Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza. Flight timetables were tailored to the needs of holiday passengers.

"We are very satisfied with the performance of our Girona-Madrid flights and we are delighted with passenger response in both cities. We are therefore reinforcing the route for the second time since its launch in January of this year with a view to meeting the high demand for flights between the two cities", stated Lars Nygaard, CEO of Spanair. He added that "Such high growth is further evidence of Spanair's commitment to Catalonia as a cornerstone of the company's development".

The collaboration of the local institutions (Generalitat de Catalunya, Diputació de Girona y Cámara de Comerç de Girona) has been key to the increase in flights and destinations, and they have expressed satisfaction at the positive market response and the promising future which awaits as a result of this news.

As is the case with all our scheduled domestic flights, passengers on these routes will benefit from the advantages offered by our Punctuality Guarantee. They will also enjoy the high levels of service, both on the ground and on board, to which Spanair customers are accustomed.

Spanair was founded in 1986 and offers more than 600 daily flights operated with a fleet of 64 aircraft and in code share with its partners, to 241 destinations. Since April 2003, Spanair is a member of Star Alliance, the largest and most prestigious airline network in the world.
