Spanair incorporates AeBal Boeing 717 on Gerona - Madrid route

1st October 2007 Print
From the 1st of October, Spanair will incorporate a latest design AeBal B-717 aircraft on its Gerona-Madrid route, with the aim of ensuring operative efficiency, optimum punctuality and reliability standards on its flights to and from the Catalan city.

The modern 120-seat B-717 features the most advanced technology for limiting atmospheric and acoustic pollution, with minimal internal and external noise levels that are well below the most stringent environmental standards, while its Rolls Royce BR715 engines drastically reduce fuel consumption and the emission of pollutant gases.

Likewise, as part of its commitment to ensuring the best product both for business and leisure passengers, on the 1st of October, Spanair is also adding a new frequency to the route, bringing the total daily return flights between Gerona and Madrid to four. With the increased flights and inclusion of the B-717 within route operations, the company will increase passenger connection possibilities via Spanair's extensive domestic and international network and to inter-continental destinations by means of the Star Alliance member carriers.

Gerona airport also offers further advantages to travellers between Madrid and Catalonia, including less traffic, free parking and its proximity to Barcelona. In addition, those passengers able to benefit from the flexibility of travelling in Spanair's Business Avant class will also be able to exchange their ticket for one on the Barcelona-Madrid route should they require a change of departure or destination airport.

Gold and Silver members of the Spanair Plus frequent flyer programme can also enjoy other benefits, including access to Spanair's VIP lounges, the possibility of checking-in heavier luggage and priority on waiting lists. The scheme allows travellers to accumulate and cash in points on each flight with Spanair or other Star Alliance member carriers, as well as on services offered by the programme's partner companies, which include hotels and car rental firms.

Spanair was founded in 1986 and offers more than 600 daily flights operated with a fleet of 64 aircraft and in code share with its partners, to 241 destinations. Since April 2003, Spanair is a member of Star Alliance, the largest and most prestigious airline network in the world.
