29th May 2008 Print
Spanair reaffirms its pledge to the Valencian Community by reinforcing its commitment towards these destinations, increasing by 13% its flights between Alicante and the cities of Barcelona and Madrid and offering more frequencies between Valencia and Madrid during the summer season; thereby consolidating its position as the top carrier for the Levante region.

New routes

With the aim of meeting passenger needs, Spanair is the only airline to relaunch the Alicante-Lanzarote route, which will operate from June until the end of the summer season. The operation will commence with a Tuesday frequency and from the 31 July until 28 August will also include, a flight on Thursdays. The company will likewise link Alicante with Bilbao; operating on Saturdays from 3 May until 14 June and from 20 September until 25 October.

More flights

Spanair is introducing a Monday to Friday frequency on flights between Alicante and Madrid, therefore there will be five weekly frequencies operating between the two cities. The company offers the same number of flights between Alicante and Barcelona, enjoying a 44% passenger share on this route.

Weekly flights will rise to six on the Alicante-Tenerife Sur route in April, with the company recording a market share of 70% on same. The winter weekly frequency between Alicante and Gran Canaria will be maintained, with an extra Thursday return flight from 17 June to 4 September. On this route linking Alicante and Gran Canaria over half of all passengers - approximately 60%, choose to fly with Spanair.

The company is also increasing its Valencia frequencies, including an additional Monday to Friday daily flight between this city and Madrid, thereby increasing the number of frequencies during these days to six. Moreover, Spanair will offer customers two Monday to Friday return flights on the route linking Valencia with Barcelona.

Furthermore, passengers can take advantage of the company's service between Valencia and Tenerife Sur on Mondays and Saturdays, as well as of its flights between Valencia and Gran Canaria, operated on Wednesdays, and also Mondays during the month of August. Spanair is complementing this extensive offer with Sunday flights between Valencia and Lanzarote, which will operate on Mondays and Wednesdays in August too.

Spanair also makes it possible to fly between Valencia and Munich with two daily frequencies from Monday to Friday, thereby consolidating the company's international flight network.

"Our decided commitment to Valencia's Autonomous Community as a priority destination means that we are striving to offer our customers the best product, with maximum flexibility and the best services," stated Marcus Hedblom, Spanair's CEO. "For the summer season, we are therefore going to launch new routes and increase our flight offer between the Levante region and mainland Spain's important business centres and holiday destinations, with the aim of meeting customer's needs," he added.
