bmibaby set for busy ski season

5th December 2008 Print
This winter will see bmibaby fly to the ever popular ski destination of Geneva and the low cost airline expects to carry over 80,000 passengers on this route from Birmingham International, Manchester, East Midlands and Cardiff International Airport. Services to Geneva commence on 20th December 2008 and flights start from just £29.99 one way including all taxes and charges.

With 35 ski resorts within an hour’s drive of the airport, and over 100 resorts within a two hour drive, Geneva truly is the gateway to the slopes.

The airline has already confirmed a large number of group bookings to Geneva and will be working with some of the top UK holidays companies to provide charter flights over the ski season.

Crawford Rix, managing director, bmibaby, said:

“This year bmibaby has an excellent range of flights on sale for passengers wishing to visit ski destinations. We expect to carry over 80,000 passengers to and from Geneva alone, so for those wishing to hit the slopes, bmibaby can offer the best destinations at the lowest prices.”

For those wishing to hit the Spanish slopes, bmibaby also fly to Malaga. Less than two hours from Malaga Airport is the snowboarder’s Mecca – Sierra Nevada. The resort offers almost 80 individual pistes, served by 24 lifts and is the perfect spot for snowboarding, whatever the ability. With slopes up to 2500m above sea level Sierra Nevada guarantees snow throughout the season.

Known as the best ski resort in the Lombardy region, Bergamo boasts over 400km of slopes in the Orobic Pre-Alps. bmibaby fly direct to Milan Bergamo from Birmingham International Airport, and keen skiers can be on the slopes within an hour of leaving the airport.

For those looking for a ski destination closer to home, why not explore the hidden jewel that is Aviemore, Scotland. Just over a two hour drive from Edinburgh and Aberdeen Airport, the resort is popular for both skiing and snow boarding, or for those wishing to try their hand at something different, dog sledging is becoming increasingly popular.

Also within a two hour drive of Edinburgh and Aberdeen is Glenshee, which is home to the UK’s most extensive ski and snowboard centre.
