Website visits to bmibaby.com soar by 70 per cent

7th January 2009 Print
bmibaby is reporting a rapid increase in the number of visitors to its website in January as a result of a 50 per cent off flight sale and a new advertising campaign. In the first week of January (1st to 6th January 2009) visitors to the website have increased by 70 per cent, when compared to website visitors in the month of December 2008.

The surge in visitor numbers has been so great that bmibaby had to increase the size of its website bandwidth by 25 per cent. This was needed in order to cope with the extra traffic to the website.

The airline is currently offering passengers up to 50 per cent off flights to every bmibaby destination from Birmingham, East Midlands, Cardiff and Manchester Airport, for travel up to the 24th October 2009. Bookings must be made by midnight Tuesday 13 January 2009.

bmibaby has also just launched a brand new campaign, designed not only to convey the low price message, but also to emphasise the joy of flying. As part of the campaign, bmibaby has revealed a new look for the airlines spokesbaby, Tiny, who has undergone a complete makeover for 2009.

Julian Carr, commercial director, bmibaby, said:

“We have seen the number of visitors to our website soar since we launched our New Year sale with 50 per cent off flights. This shows that people definitely have the appetite to travel in 2009 and want to snap up a bargain break.”

“We have also just launched a brand new campaign for the airline designed to encourage people to fly more and see more. A major part of this campaign is a brand new look for Tiny our spokesbaby. We wanted to reinvigorate the low cost airline industry and inject more personality into the marketplace. By refreshing Tiny, we can make people notice us even more and make sure we stand out from the crowds. Our new campaign with Tiny is going to put the fun back into flying and inspire people to getaway during a gloomy period.”
