Revolutionary new ski lift opens in St. Anton

A new gondola lift is due to open in St. Anton for winter 2006/7 featuring a totally new technology that employs a `giant wheel’ of individual gondolas to allow skiers to enter at ground level. The gondolas then take passengers up to link into the main gondola cableway.

Likewise on the descent, skiers are taken to ground level via the wheel mechanism, avoiding the need to walk up and down steps in cumbersome ski gear to access the gondola. This innovative revolving system, with its distinctive architectural style, enables 28 cabins each to convey 24 passengers up the Galzig, a total of 2,200 people per hour.
