Brits Enjoying Snowfalls At Whistler
British guests have been flocking in greater numbers than ever before to Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort on Canada’s West Coast. Setting a new record snowfall this week, the resort has received 866 centimetres of snow to date. The prior record was set in 1991/92 when the resort received 827 centimetres of snowfall by January 31. The current snowbase at Whistler Blackcomb is an incredible 289 centimetres.A winter wonderland picture postcard scene has greeted British guests over the past several weeks as they arrive for their winter ski holidays, with snow banks piled high, trees and rooftops laden with snow, and twinkling lights throughout the bustling Whistler Village.
With 8,171 acres of terrain providing access to a massive amount of beginner, intermediate and expert terrain, and the opening this season of the brand new Symphony Express high speed quad providing access to Whistler Mountain’s high alpine for intermediate skiers, the choices of what to ski and where at Whistler Blackcomb are unlimited. Add to that a vibrant pedestrian village nestled at the base of both mountains, plenty of ski in/ski out accommodation, and a wide variety of off-hill activities, the choice to make Whistler Blackcomb a British vacation destination is an easy one.
With an average annual snowfall of 10 metres, and a season that extends from November to July, snow conditions are some of the most reliable in the world.
