New destinations for Ski Freshtracks - Russia & Sweden

Ski Freshtracks This season sees Ski Freshtracks launch five new look brochures offering five different holiday experiences - Off Piste, Ski Touring & Safaris, Action & Instruction, Family & U20s and Weekends.

Ski Freshtracks trips are unique as skiers can choose their adventure from one of the five brochures and then pick a trip to suit their ability, ensuring that their skiing will be taken to a new level.

The programme also offers over 40 different destinations including four brand new ones and more than 140 different trips with unique and varied itineraries meaning there is something on offer for everyone.

New for 2008

RUSSIA –Ski Touring Adventure – fly to St Petersburg, overnight train to Kirovsk and skidoo to the mountain hut. From there the tour of the Kola Peninsula begins and the trip involves six individual ski tours. Last day involves sightseeing in St Petersburg. Accompanied by UIAGM Mountain guides. Dates 29 March-7 April. Price £1795.

SWEDEN – Heli-skiing – a week of heli-skiing and off-piste based out of Abisko Mountain Lodge near Rikgränsen. The trip offers epic days of heli-skiing 400 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. Dates 5-12 April. Price £2995.

LES DIABLERETS, Switzerland – Christmas, New Year, Easter and Weekend trips to this new Ski Freshtracks destination. Attractive village, snow-sure skiing on the Diablerets glacier and access to nearby Villars and Gstaad. Prices from £475.

ARABBA , Italy - On the Sella Ronda circuit in the Dolomites, this north facing resort will allay any fears of lack of snow. Offering two one week trips, the first for Peak Experience skiers (Ski Freshtracks skiers over the age of 50) and the second for all ages. 23 February – 1 March (£795) and 1-8 March (£795).

SINGLE SKIERS – This season sees even more rooms with no single person supplement, so single skiers will not get any additional charges for taking a single room on several of the holidays.

FLEXIBLE TRAVEL - Many Ski Freshtracks holidays have the option to book flights from regional airports but still offer a transfer to resort (either by coach or train). This enables skiers to fly from a convenient airport and take advantage of airline offers. Alternatively they can choose to travel by car or train.

And the return of:

AVALANCHE AWARENESS COURSES – following the success of last year’s courses, two avalanche awareness weekend courses are running this winter in Argentière and a Mountaincraft course in Val D’Isère. This autumn also sees as an avalanche ‘hide and seek’ event and avalanche awareness talks in the UK. (Details to follow on Skiclub.co.uk).

POWDER WEEKS – working with some of the best instructors and mountain guides across the Alps, there are courses to suit all standards, from nervous intermediates to the most adventurous powder hounds.

WEEKEND BREAKS – maximum time on snow and minimum time away from the office. Over 25 weekend trips to a great selection of snowsure resorts, including weekends from London City Airport.

FAMILY HOLIDAYS – the Ski Freshtracks leaders ski with the children freeing parents up to have a real ski break. Of course if parents want to ski with their children they can. Holidays covering all the peak times – Christmas, New Year, Half Term and Easter. Holidays for under 20s wanting a trip without their parents also feature.

SKI TOURING AND SAFARIS – including the Russian trip outlined above – this section offers the more traditional ski touring routes such as the Haute Route and Reverse Haute Route as well as more adventurous tours such as Le Meije tour, around and beyond La Grave in France, and three beginner's touring skills weekends in Klosters, Verbier and Argentière.

PEAK EXPERIENCE – over 25 holidays catering specifically for skiers over 62 (but all skiers over 50 are welcome).
