Children encouraged to discover the magic of skiing

20th September 2007 Print
Ski Club Reps The Ski Club of Great Britain has launched a special bursary scheme that will award six different UK secondary schools £500 each. Thomas Lang, a former Ski Club member, left the Ski Club a sum of money when he died because of his great love of skiing and his involvement with the Ski Club during his life. It was decided by the Ski Club to use this money to encourage and help children discover the magic of skiing.

The Thomas Lang Schools Bursary can help for example, by funding an assisted place for a deserving child on a school ski trip, by taking a class outing to a local UK artificial ski slope, or even to help to buy clothing and ski accessories for children who need financial support.

Schools can apply online and they will automatically be placed into the pool of entries.

To apply, visit Skiclub.co.uk/schoolsbursary.

The deadline for entries this year is 31 October 2007. The applications are for winter 08/09, not this coming winter. Only one entry can be made per school, per year. The award is intended to run annually for as long as the funds allow.

At the beginning of November six schools will be selected from the pool at random. They will be contacted by 9th November 2007 (if applying for season 08/09) and asked to submit detailed plans of their intended use for the bursary (£500) by the 23rd November 2007.

To apply, or for further information visit Skiclub.co.uk/schoolsbursary.
