You haven’t skied until you’ve skied Canada

8th October 2007 Print
“Many of our resorts have already had their first snowfalls and after some of the best ever snow conditions last year, Canada is definitely looking forward to a great season this year. Add in increased airline capacity, the buzz building up around 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic games in Vancouver, we feel we can confidently say ‘You haven’t skied, until you’ve skied Canada’, which coincidently is our new strap line for our 2007/8 ski campaign.”, said Maggie Davison, Managing Director Canadian Tourism Commission UK.

This campaign is in partnership with the Canadian Destination Ski Consortium [CDSC] which is made up of leading ski and snowboard resorts across Canada.

“The UK is one of our most important overseas markets and the Canadian skiing experience is attracting more and more UK skiers every year,” stated Renata Cecconi, Executive Director of the CDSC. “We are pleased to be partnering with the Canadian Tourism Commission to help us spread the word about Canada’s best ski and winter adventure destinations.”

Current figures indicate that skiing and boarding accounts for around 10% of the total market to Canada ex UK , but that the winter months often see the largest growth percentages year on year over other times of the year.

The campaign will focus on print and online components for this coming season:

- Ski Club of Great Britain’s magazine, Ski and Board Canada supplement, branded Ski Canada content on skiclub.co.uk and e-newsletters
- Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard advertorial and online combination
- Good Ski magazine to be inserted with the Sunday Times
- Ski Canada content in the Daily Telegraph winter supplement and online ski coverage
- E-mail newsletter and e-mail blasts via Daily Telegraph
- Branded Canada content within Ifyouski.com
- Branded Canada content within onthesnow.com

The Canadians will also be at the Metro ski and Snowboard (October 24 – 28th 2007) show taking over an aisle, and taking space at the British Ski and Snowboard show at the NEC in Birmingham (November 2 – 4th 2007). First time exhibitors Tourism British Columbia will be there to generate awareness of the Vancouver/Whistler 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Whistler, Banff Lake Louise, Tremblant and Jasper will be joined by Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, Red, Fernie, Panorama, Kicking Horse, Big White/Silver Star, Sun Peaks, Mont St.Anne/Stoneham/Le Massif, Island Lake lodge and TLH Heliski.
