Easier routes to Zermatt & Saas Fee this winter

25th October 2007 Print
As of 9th December 2007, the airport of choice for skiers and boarders travelling to the top car-free Swiss resorts of Zermatt and Saas Fee will be Zurich, not Geneva.

Thanks to the opening of the Lotschberg Base Tunnel (the biggest European rail project since the Channel Tunnel), trains from Zurich Airport will whisk you to Zermatt in just three and half hours with just one easy change at Visp. The trains will not only be faster than those from Geneva Airport but also more modern, with most conveying a Restaurant Car – you don’t even get a snack trolley on the Geneva trains. There are now more scheduled flights to Zurich than ever before, meaning greater availability and keener prices than Geneva.

The last train connection from Zurich Airport departs at 20.13 arriving in Zermatt at 23.44 in plenty of time for a snack at the Elise Bar or a pizza in the Hotel Post.

Ski Solutions offers tailor-made packages to a wide range of hotels in Zermatt & Saas Fee. For example:

- 3 Star Hotel Perren, Zermatt from £580 pp
- 4 Star Hotel Alex, Zermatt from £835 pp
- 3 Star Park Hotel, Saas Fee from £525 pp
- 5 Star Ferienrart, Saas Fee from £1020 pp

Prices are based on scheduled flights from London, 2nd class rail transfer and seven nights half board accommodation.
