Ski holidays - Family friendly vs family focussed

30th October 2007 Print
There are now a number of “family friendly” ski operators, however some stand out as being geared specifically towards the needs of groups travelling with young children. Ski Famille is one such firm.

Ski Famille was started sixteen years ago by two families who had failed to find a chalet company providing the dedicated service they were looking for. The company continues to work solely with families.

Pricing is one important area where this focus shines through. Child and infant prices are a specified figure on all dates, not a complex percentage of adult prices dependent on a vast number of variables. If you choose to have separate rooms for children rather than a family room, you won’t be hit with a supplement.

Childcare is included in child and infant prices in all chalets throughout the season. This service is provided five days a week and care is provided in the chalet you stay in, rather than a crowded centralised crèche. Most chalets have their own dedicated playroom, fully equipped with toys and games.

You are not tied into using a ski school chosen by Ski Famille. You can pick from any of the excellent schools available in their resorts. As long as lessons are during childcare hours (8.30 to 4.30) they will ensure that children are safely handed over to instructors, and picked up again at the end of lessons.

Ski Famille only offers resorts with a short transfer from Geneva airport. You can expect to arrive at your chalet within an hour and a half of leaving the airport. The company’s two resorts are also amongst the closest to the channel if you choose to drive.

Family holidays with Ski Famille are offered in the picturesque French resorts of Les Gets and Morzine. Early season offer prices start from £325 per adult and £295 per child. Infants are from £250. Packages include either Channel crossings or Geneva airport transfers.
