Big snow in the Austrian Tirol

13th November 2007 Print
Over a metre of snow has fallen in the Austrian Tirol, the biggest November snowfalls for over 30 years. And it’s not just on the glaciers or in the high resorts, as popular resorts including St. Anton and Kitzbuhel are covered in over 1.5 metres of snow.

A number of the Tirol’s ski areas are now opening a month earlier than planned to take advantage of the fantastic snow and the 5 ski glaciers are already open and offering incredible snow conditions.

The outlook’s white too. With the most important `first snow’ already lying in abundance, a firm base has been established for a successful winter season. The forecast for the rest of this week is continued snowfall and for a white winter wonderland in the Tirol's picturesque resorts, giving skiers the opportunity to use the province's exceptional ski lift infrastructure to the full.
