Norway opens first ski slopes
The first ski resorts in Norway are now open, making it the ideal place for an early break on the slopes. Norway’s largest resort, Trysil opened yesterday (November 15th), with a snow secure pledge offering skiers their money back if snow conditions are poor. This will be followed by the lively resort of Hemsedal today (November 16th) and then by Hafjell, near Lillehammer, and family favourite Geilo on Saturday (November 17th).
Oslo, Voss, Røldal, Hafukelifjell and Hovden are expected to open their slopes within the next few weeks.
Norway offers a long season with snow virtually guaranteed from November to May. Ideal for families and beginners, the resorts boast uncrowded slopes and short lift queues. Those who want a break from the piste can take part in a number of different winter activities including dog sledging, snowmobiling, tobogganing and sleigh rides which are available at most resorts.
Norway is also great for cross-country skiing, with fantastic trails at all of the main ski resorts. More information is available from Norske Spor at Skiingnorway.com.
Innovation Norway’s Country Manager, Catherine Foster says:
“With some great snowfall already in our main resorts it looks set to be a fantastic year for skiing in Norway.
“There are a wide range of slopes to suit skiers of all abilities and visitors are guaranteed a warm welcome and scenery to rival resorts worldwide.”
