Early season snow hits the French Alps

The start of the ski season has seen a reversal of the disappointing trends witnessed in 2006 and December 2007 is already being heralded as one of the best starts to the ski season in memory. Snow cover is good across a vast range of Alpine resorts, however, the area to the North of Mont Blanc has fared particularly well.

Ski Famille is based in the picturesque resorts of Les Gets and Morzine, both of which sit in this snow blessed area between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva. Managing Director Chris Thompson reports near perfect early season conditions; “We had great snowfalls last week giving superb coverage to all slopes. This week has stayed cold but the sun is now shining. Families joining us for Christmas look set to have an exceptional holiday.”

Most chalet operators have seen their last gaps for Christmas and New Year quickly fill since the arrival of snow. However, January offers quieter slopes and serious savings. With a sound base of snow already in place conditions look likely to be excellent throughout the month.
