Suits to skis in the Big Apple

6th February 2008 Print
Suits to skis in the Big Apple With British Airways announcing the launch of its first ever all-business class service with flights twice a day from London City airport to New York's JFK airport, it will soon be easier than ever to mix a business trip in the “Big Apple” with a spot of skiing at one of New York State’s world class ski areas.

Windham and Hunter mountain, two of New York State’s premier ski resorts in the Catskills region offer award-winning facilities and luxury accommodation and are just 65 miles from New York City. Just a 2 hour drive north of “The Big Apple”; a convenient half-hour ride from New York State Thruway exits 20 or 21.

Markly Wilson, Director, International Marketing - New York State Division of Tourism says “Skiing is a pastime that many New Yorkers indulge in, and our award-winning ski resorts are very popular with Wall Street City workers because of their close proximity to the city and luxury facilities. The service direct from London City into New York City will only make it easier for City Workers in London to mix business in NYC with pleasure and a little stress relief in our superb ski resorts in record travelling time”

The service is due to start in 2009, but there is still time to take advantage of New York State’s ski season. It’s known to run longer than in Europe, with excellent ski conditions running right though to April. Also, with the dollar stronger that ever, and European ski resorts and the price of lift passes and ski hire being notoriously expensive, New York State is a better deal all round.
