Book early for ski bargains in Switzerland Solís Cambrian Hotel & Spa in Adelboden, Switzerland has released details of its ski packages for the 08/09 season, with a special early bird offer of a 10 per cent discount on all the services provided by the hotel if clients book three months in advance of their holiday.

Solís Cambrian Hotel & Spa has launched three packages, for two-night, five-might and week-long stays. The full-price two-night package, perfect for a weekend’s skiing, starts from CHF992 (approx £504); the five-night package costs from CHF2,412 (approx £1,228) and the week’s holiday starts at CHF3,377 (approx £1,718). With the early bird discount, a couple could be spending the weekend skiing for just CHF915 (approx £465).

All package prices are for two people and include half-board accommodation (excluding evening beverages) in a deluxe room with panoramic Alpine views, ski passes for the duration of their stay and complimentary use of the Spa Solís (indoor and outdoor pools, the wellness area and the Technogym fitness zone). Upgrades to a Solís Suite are available for CHF100 (approx £51) per room per night.

All ski packages are available from 12 December 2008 to 19 April 2009 (depending on snow conditions), with the exception of Christmas and New Year (i.e. they are not valid from 24 December 2008 to 1 January 2009). They can all be booked through the Solís Cambrian Hotel & Spa website, which can be found at Solisadelboden.com.

Solís Cambrian Hotel & Spa opened in December 2007, following a complete refurbishment that has seen the property emerge as a relaxed but luxurious hotel, with a contemporary design focus. While touches of the early 20th century building remain, such as the cosy under eaves bedrooms that have been converted into duplexes, much of the hotel has been re-designed for modern living, including a sun terrace, winter garden, Mediterranean restaurant called Nova, Scott’s après-ski bar, a spacious 750 sq m spa using 100% natural Sodashi products from Australia and two games rooms (one for younger children with soft toys, Lego and Wii, the other for teenagers with a snooker table and board games).

With only 71 rooms (including 23 suites), the hotel is able to offer excellent levels of service with a personal touch, all part of the philosophy of Horst Schulze, the ex-CEO of The Ritz-Carlton who has created the Solís brand.

Solís Cambrian Hotel & Spa occupies an enviable location with stunning panoramic views of the Swiss Alps, which are best enjoyed from the warmth of the heated outdoor swimming pool, complete with massaging water spouts, after a hard day’s skiing. The property is just 100 metres from the centre of Adelboden, a charming and unspoilt village of traditional wooden chalets, which is renowned as the home of the first package ski holiday.

With a 170km ski area, accessed via 55 lifts, there are pistes to suit every level of skier, be they beginners, intermediates or off-piste experts, there is even a World Cup slope – a World Cup event takes place in Adelboden in early January each year – for those who really want to test their downhill skiing. Boarders are also welcome.

Adelboden is easily accessible from the UK: Flybe operate flights from Birmingham and Southampton to Bern, which is a 40-minute road or rail journey away, and numerous airlines fly to Zurich and Geneva, from where there are easy train connections to the resort.
