Emotions, passion and pure bliss – Austria in winter With an 80cm snow base, Obergurgl will open its new season on 14 November 2008 with “Cirque des Montagnes – La Passion”, a fabulous series of events. Artistic entertainment coupled with live music, acrobatics, dance shows, magic moments and comedy performances await you on the occasion of this unique ski opening which takes place on three weekends.

You will also find fresh powder on the Hintertuxer glacier. With 120cm of snow at the moment, Hintertux is a paradise for free riders – since noon yesterday it has been snowing and continues to do so. At the glacier you can also go on a mystical journey. Experience ‘Nature’s Ice Palace’, made up of fabulous ice forms and glittering ice crystals in breathtaking surroundings. The mystical glacial blue vestibule chamber is the first point of the tour, where the turquoise colours provide an amazing visual experience. It only takes natural sunlight for the entire chamber to be bathed in shades of blue, as only blue colour tones are reflected in ice. Further information: tux.at

Also, the sunny south is also celebrating the arrival of new snow. Nassfeld, one of Austria’s Top 10 skiing areas, will kick off the season on 29 November. Another event will turn the Nassfeld into a party mountain. Fun and action at the ‘University of Snow’ from 12 - 14 December during the day with airboarding, snow tubing and snow biking, and a big party with MTV at night. Further information: nassfeld.at

In Lech-Zürs the 2008/2009 winter season will start on 29 November with an innovatively staged show. Winter will be given a warm welcome and a battle launched against the elements. In order to appease the winter demons, Lech will summon up everything it has to offer. A colourful show consisting of music, light and action awaits you on the slopes.
