High altitude skiing and a noble host The Austrian Tirol abounds with unusual, charming and cosy places to stay. Skiers preferring to find individual accommodation this winter could consider residing amid nobility at the Jagdschloss Kühtai, an 800 year old lodge with a resident Count, whose ancestors include Emperor France Josef I. The Lodge is in the heart of the mountains at Kühtai, Austria's highest ski resort, and has direct access to the skiing, with individual rooms and suites and prices from € 125,00 per night.

The Jagdschloss Kühtai's aristocratic host and resident owner Christian Count Stolberg-Stolberg, is one of the great, great, grandchildren of Emperor Franz Josef I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria and can often be persuaded to regale stories of over two centuries of the resident noble family over a good glass of wine.

Jagdschloss Kühtai is first mentioned in documents dating back to 1280. This vast and impressive lodge has its own private chapel, and guest accommodation in historic and traditionally styled rooms that once welcomed princes and counts, a cosy beamed two bedroom apartment that was once the "Schweinestall" (Pigsty) and double rooms and suites in the newer Elisabeth Wing. Top cuisine and fine wines are on the menu here in a truly noble Tirolean setting. The Jagdschloss is in the heart of fantastic skiing terrain,

A night’s stay costs from € 125,00 low season and from € 145,00 high season.
