Snow falls on the Canadian Rockies
As the winter season gets underway, skiers and snowboarders are enjoying fresh snows in Canada’s Rocky Mountains. Banff’s Sunshine Village, renowned for its amazing natural snowfall, has received 22cm of the white stuff in the last two days, giving it a 94 cm base. All twelve of the resort’s lifts are open, giving access to 78 runs.Also at the heart of the Rockies is Lake Louise where similar snowfall in the last couple of days has made the base 92cm and allowed 70 runs to be open.
Marmot Basin, Jasper’s ski area has already received 112cm of snow so far this Winter and Kicking Horse Resort is enjoying a 94cm base, following 33cm of snow this week.
Elsewhere, Fernie has received 15cm of snow in the past 48 hours to add to its initial base in anticipation of this weekend’s opening. Canada’s new kid on the block, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, is also aiming to please its guests, with 32cm this week taking overall snowfall so far this winter to a superb 169cm.
