Whistler's Peak 2 Peak gondola opens today

11th December 2008 Print
Whistler's Peak 2 Peak gondola opens today After months of construction and testing, Whistler Blackcomb's newest tourist attraction officially opens today, 12th December. The gondola which connects the sister mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb is a triumph of engineering, 4.4km long with an unsupported span of just over 3km and travelling at one point 436m above the ground. 28 cabins, carrying up to 2,000 people per hour each way, make the crossing.

Whistler, North America's most popular wintersports destination, is an established feature in U.K. skier and snowboarders minds and the Peak 2 Peak is sure to enhance that reputation.

Frontier Ski, specialists in holidays to Canada, offers many hotels and apartments in the resort. The Delta Village Suites is typical, offering quality accommodation in the heart of the village. A week for two in the suites is £1,074 p.p. on the 15th January 2009, including scheduled flights and resort transfers.
