Ski specialist offers free helmet hire

3rd March 2009 Print
SkiHolidayExtras.com, the leading add-ons company for skiers, says more than 25% of its clients are opting to hire a protective helmet this season, compared to 5% of clients last year.

"Safety on the slopes is an increasing issue but with a mid-range helmet costing £75-£100, hiring one for the week - for around £20 - is obviously a much better deal," says the company's Callum Chiverton.

SkiHolidayExtras.com is now offering free helmet hire to all clients, in all its resorts, to the end of the season.

"Snowboarders are most likely to hire a helmet, and it's clear that parents are hiring protective helmets for their children," says Chiverton.

"But safety on the slopes is an issue for everyone so our offer is designed to highlight the importance of safety to all skiers of every age."

17 skiers have died in Austrian resorts this year to date and Swiss hospitals are seeing up to 150 injured skiers a day. The Ski Club of Great Britain recommends helmet use for all children under 13.

SkiHolidayExtras.com offers helmet hire and other pre-bookable add-ons in 200 ski resorts across Europe and in Canada. Services include airport transfers, lift passes, equipment hire, lessons, childcare, hosted catering, husky sledding, ice driving and other resort activities.
