Winter fun with Headwater
Headwater, the cross-country holiday specialist with almost 25 years of experience, is launching its new winter activities programme this week.
The programme offers a choice of cross country skiing, winter activities and winter walking holidays in Austria, France, Italy, Norway and Switzerland.
Headwater offers a range of fun activity snow experiences as an alternative to down hill skiing, for those who want to escape for a winter holiday and do something a little different.
Five new resorts have been introduced and include Akaslompolo in Finland, with excellent affordable access to the 320kms of cross country skiing in the snow-sculptured forests; Trins, in Austria, perfect for winter walking and intermediate cross country skiing at the beginning of the original Gschnitztal valley; Rondablikk in the south-eastern corner of Norway and Sjusjoen, the cross country capital of Norway, with Elk-safaris, horse-drawn sleigh rides, dog sledding, snowshoeing and alpine skiing all available locally; Niederdorf-Villabassa, a charming village in the heart of the Italian Dolomites in South Tyrol, offers great snow shoeing holidays for all abilities and is also a perfect choice for non-skiers with prepared walking paths and the famous thermal spa at the 4* Hotel Adler with an exquisite restaurant run by head chef Helene Markart.
Additional winter walking has also been added in Kandersteg, Switzerland and Leutasch, Austria to compliment the cross country programme on offer.
For those who want a quick fix, or are new to cross country skiing and are unsure about committing to a week, short break winter destinations are very popular. Headwater’s new Flexi holiday offers three and five night holidays in Davos, Kandersteg and Geilo.
The appeal lies in the fact that flights, transfers and accommodation are all arranged as a package and are ideal for those who lead busy lifestyles. Prices start from £648 per person on the “Cross Country Skiing in Pailherols”, France. The price includes seven nights at the 2* Auberge des Montagnes on full board, a fully guided cross country ski programme (snowshoes if preferred), local ski pass, hire of boots, poles and skis/snowshoes and return transfers to Vic sur Cere railway station.
With flights and transfers, prices start from £867 per person from London Heathrow to Paris with Air France. Flights are also available on request from most UK airports with transfers as required.
