RS Academy – A new track-based supercar club

Most people would agree that driving a Lamborghini or Porsche on today’s roads is a bit like riding a racehorse around your garden – in a word, frustrating! Rob Stanbury certainly thinks so, which is why he has formed the RS Academy – a new track-based supercar club that allows members to enjoy such cars exactly as their designers intended.
The best circuits
The Academy will operate from arguably the three best drivers’ circuits in the world – Germany’s incomparable Nürburgring (Nordschleife), Belgium’s Spa Francorchamps and the ultra-exclusive, privately-owned Ascari Race Resort near Marbella in Spain.
The best cars
The initial line-up for 2009 includes the following: Renault Megane R26.R, Caterham R500 Superlight, BMW M3 CSL, Porsche GT3 RS (997), Lamborghini Superleggera and Radical SR3. The fleet will be constantly expanded in line with membership and there are further very exciting machines lined up for introduction in the near future.
The way it works
Much is contained within the membership fee, including insurance against accidental damage and personal injury whilst on track. So is tuition – everybody receives at least half a day’s instruction from the expert team before slipping behind the wheel of a different car or exploring a new track.
There are three forms of membership – Individual, Shared and Corporate. The first gives access to everything the Academy has to offer, including bespoke programmes that progress members through the range of cars and on to acquiring a race licence, should they so wish. The second allows friends and partners to share both the cost and the fun. The last is intended for groups of five or more named drivers from the same company - bespoke client packages are also available on request.
Amazing value for money
Additional benefits include: complimentary membership of the road-based Auto Lusso Supercar Club and access to the Classic Car Club fleet – ie three elite car clubs for the price of one! Exclusive VIP events such as ice driving, supercar tours and F1 Hospitality will also be on the menu from time to time.
Experienced operator
Rob Stanbury was an events manager in the music industry before joining the staff of the original supercar club, P1 International, in 2005. He left six months ago in order to optimise his experience and industry contacts in the foundation of a truly unique club – one designed to satisfy even the most ardent of petrolheads. Said Rob: “It was while at P1 that I saw the potential for a track-based operation that allowed members to experience supercars as never before – in my view, those limited to road use can never fully exploit such vehicles without risking their licence, or their own and other people’s safety.”
Other key differences between RS Academy and existing supercar clubs include:
The cars will be owned by the club (rather than the banks), so the members’ investment will be better protected.
The option of shared membership should allow many more enthusiasts to indulge their passion with like-minded friends.
The car fleet will be upgraded at very regular intervals, so there will always be something new and exciting for members to try.
