Direct Line: Government road safety consultation

Andy Goldby, Director of Motor Underwriting at Direct Line, said, "Direct Line welcomes the Government's consultation on its road safety strategy. These wide ranging proposals, from setting targets for reducing road deaths to reforming the driving test, can only have a positive impact on the safety of our roads. When we see safer driving and therefore fewer accidents as a result of today's plans, the knock-on effect would be a reduction in car insurance premiums.

Direct Line will work with the Government and road safety organisations to ensure that the proposals are implemented effectively. We would like to see these proposals sparking a national debate about how to make our roads safer, with drivers, pedestrians, bikers and cyclists all having their say and contributing to making the strategy work."
