11th January 2007 Print
Virgin Atlantic Virgin Atlantic Airways has announced that it plans to recruit 100 inflight beauty therapists by July this year. This significant recruitment drive will meet the airline’s expansion plans for 2007, which include the launch of flights to Chicago in April, Nairobi in June and Mauritius in October, along with an extra daily service to Washington during the summer season.

Sara Wilce, Virgin Touch Manager for Virgin Atlantic, commented: “The Inflight Beauty Therapist must be one of the most glamorous jobs in the airline industry! We are delighted to be welcoming more inflight beauty therapists to the airline and are looking forward to having more stars to add to our impressive team. This unique service started in 1990. Since then it has gone from strength to strength and is a real hit with our Upper Class passengers.”

Inflight Beauty Therapists have been onboard Virgin Atlantic flights since the airline’s inaugural flight to Los Angeles in 1990. The service, which includes treatments such as Back In The Clouds, Hot Hands and Handsome Hands Manicure, is extremely popular with its Upper Class passengers and there are now over 250 inflight beauty therapists working at the airline. The service is available on all return flights out of Heathrow. The services are complimentary and are intended to produce a feeling of well being and alleviate tension and the affects of jet lag.

Applicants will be able to apply online at virgin.com/atlanticjobs from January 2007 and interviews for successful applicants will be held at regular intervals over the first quarter of the year. Successful applicants will undertake a nine-week training course, which comprises of flight skills, customer care and the Virgin Atlantic service, safety equipment and procedures, medical training and a Virgin Touch Beauty Therapy course.
