Virgin Atlantic to fly to Mauritius from Heathrow

Virgin Atlantic Virgin Atlantic Airways will launch direct services between London Heathrow and Mauritius on 28 October this year. This new service will bring the airline’s total number of destinations to 29 with Kingston, Jamaica being the 30th route launch two days later.

Andrew Fyfe, Regional Manager, Middle East and Indian Ocean, said:

The launch of these services will lead to increased competition, better value for money and quality of service. This new route shows that we are continuing to build a long-haul network with the ideal mix of business and leisure routes for today’s traveller.

Mauritius is a beautiful island offering a range of relaxing spa centres and elegant hotels. Passengers will be spoilt for choice by the range of top class hotels, fine dining opportunities, excellent water sports, and world-class golf courses on this tropical paradise.”

Services between London Heathrow and Mauritius will operate twice a week on Fridays and Sundays from Heathrow and Saturdays and Mondays from Mauritius on an Airbus A340-300 with 240 seats onboard – 34 Upper Class, 35 Premium Economy and 171 Economy.

Flights from Heathrow will depart on Fridays at 2000, arriving into Mauritius at 1200 the following day and departures on a Sunday from Heathrow leave at 1705 arriving into Mauritius at 0905 the following morning. Return flights from Mauritius depart on Saturdays at 1400 arriving into Heathrow the same day at 2225 and flights departing Mauritius on Mondays leave at 1250, arriving into Heathrow at 2115 the same day.

All flights to Mauritius will be operated on aircraft fitted with Virgin Atlantic’s new Upper Class Suite. The Upper Class Suite consists of a reclining seat for take off, a place to sit and eat a three course meal opposite your partner, the longest fully flat bed in the world with a proper mattress for sleeping on, a private onboard bar to drink at with your friends and a private massage zone – all at a price thousands of pounds less than other airlines’ First Class.
