RMIF puts MOT risk assessment scores on target
MOT testing stations that carry out their own risk assessments prior to official evaluation will be able to highlight areas where improvement is needed, and the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) MOT QC Scheme can help businesses in this process. The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) is performing risk assessments on all MOT stations in order to gauge their effectiveness. The amount of attention VOSA will pay to a MOT site is directly related to how good or bad their risk score is.
Businesses that assess their performance prior to the VOSA full risk assessment can see where they need to make improvements, and improve their ultimate score. The RMIF can help in this through its MOT QC Scheme.
Stephen Coles, Head of the RMIF’s MOT Operations Team commented: ‘It is important to carry out an internal risk assessment to see what can be improved to lessen the impact of any future assessments, and the RMIF can conduct them on your behalf through the MOT QC Scheme.
‘VOSA will only give you your final total and your risk colour whereas what is more useful is to find the individual scores for each question. This way you can detect which individual questions are having the most effect on your risk score. Having made the assessment you can prioritise the areas that need attention, see where the gains can be made and ignore those areas where it would be impossible to improve.’
