Motorpoint launches car saving scheme
Motorpoint has launched its own alternative to the Government’s scrappage scheme – the Motorpoint Car Savers Scheme. The UK’s largest car supermarket group is offering savings of up to £20,000* on over 3,500 new and nearly new models as part of the nationwide incentive, none of which will require subsidising by the taxpayer.
In addition, consumers who participate in the Motorpoint Car Savers Scheme can also trade in their old vehicle, whatever the age or condition, to make the savings on their new car even greater.
The best news of all is that the Car Savers Scheme isn’t limited to a certain number of people or specific period of time. The Scheme will continue until further notice in a bid to ensure the consumers continue to receive the best possible value for money when buying their next car from Motorpoint. Plus, all 3,500 vehicles are available for immediate delivery.
Explains David Shelton, Managing Director of Motorpoint: “Like many companies in our industry we were initially delighted that the Chancellor Alistair Darling has finally seen sense and put the wheels in motion for a car scrappage scheme to begin.
“However, when the content of the scheme was published, it quickly became apparent to us that it smacked of collusion between Government and the car manufacturers, with the consumer once again being left to pick up the bill.”
Adds David: “Under the current Government’s proposals, owners of vehicles over 10 years old have to buy new, unregistered cars at list price to qualify for the scheme – some of which have risen in price by as much as 8.5% since the start of 2009.
“We don’t think this is the answer and is likely to discriminate against a lot of people, who don’t have the means to buy cars at such inflated prices. This is the reason why Motorpoint has decided to launch its own Car Savers Scheme to ensure that owning a new or nearly car continues to remain affordable and well within the reach of the bulk of the British car buying public.”
