RMIF signs service level agreement for MOT
The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) is among the signatories to an agreement with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) that sets benchmark standards on services VOSA provides to MOT stations including education, compliance, enforcement and MOT computer issues. The new Service Level Agreement (SLA) will address issues relating to the level of service an MOT station can expect when VOSA carry out enforcement and inspections at their premises. It will also cover the standards that the RMIF will encourage its members to adopt.
As well as the RMIF and VOSA, the other signatories to the SLA were the Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA), and a representative of The MOT Trade User Group and VTS Council.
The RMIF has already been a signatory to similar agreements with VOSA relating to Heavy Goods Vehicle Testing and Enforcement.
Stephen Coles, RMIF Head of MOT Operations commented: ‘This is the first time a Service Level Agreement has been put in place for the MOT industry, it will help formalise the standards and procedures expected of VOSA towards test stations and that which the trade will be encouraged to adopt when Nominated Testers and Authorised Examiners are in contact with VOSA staff. Ultimately I feel this will help the partnership between the MOT Station and VOSA to grow in a professional manner and contribute towards road safety.’
The Service Level Agreements is part of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) which represents a long-term commitment between VOSA, the Trade Associations, MOT Authorised Examiners and Nominated Testers.
RMIF members that want more information on the Service Level Agreement should contact the RMIF Operations Team.
