DVLA’s HOT 71P

Gamblers, racing experts and even investors in need of a HOT 71P need look no further than DVLA Personalised Registrations’ next auction commencing on June 3.

For that’s one of the 1,600 private plates up for sale during the three-day event being staged at Wychwood Park in Crewe, Cheshire.

While HOT 71P typifies the array of comical registrations on offer, 3 O will arguably be the “star” of the show – especially if the two auctions of 2009 are anything to go by with 1 O and 2 O being sold to investors for £210,242 and £142,249 respectively.
Though the catalogue features a large number of plates with reserves from a little as £350, DVLA’s auctioneers are bracing themselves for a possible bidding “war” over 7 T and has set a £10,000 reserve to support its value. However, it is not expected to topple the staggering £352,411 a Lebanese businessman paid for 1 D at its last auction held in March.

Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Marketing Manager, said: “We have been completely bowled over by some of the incredible sums paid for our registrations this year, especially in this current economic climate.

“While we are hopeful our high-value registrations like 3 O and 7 T will generate large sums, HOT 71P is typical of the scores of fun-plates being auctioned with relatively low reserves.”

The auction consists of an eclectic mix of personalised registrations to suit all car owners and motorists of all tastes including ALV 111S (reserve £400), B0R 111S (£900), DAD 4S (£400), ELV 115S (£400), FLU 555H (£900), F4 YED (£1,000), G0F 1E (£700) H0T 80T (£400), M007 0WN (£900), MU55 EUM (£900), N0T 600D (£400), 0Y57 ERS (£1,000), PR0 80Y (£400), RUN 8OY (£900), SAV 111L (£400), TRA 11L (£400), WEB 80Y (£500).
