Halfords offers free oil checks to support National Oil Check Week

With lack of oil a major cause of engine failure and a new engine costing an average of £14131, Halfords is offering all customers a free oil check during National Oil Check Week (June 15-19).

National Oil Check Week (checkyouroil.co.uk) has been set up by oil and car care company, Comma, to encourage UK motorists to take better care of their cars by doing basic maintenance tasks, like checking oil levels.

Halfords already offers oil checks at all of its UK stores as part of the ‘We Fit’ service but, during National Oil Check Week, drivers will be able to get their oil checked for free as well as receiving a £1 discount on one litre packs of Mobil 1 oil, should a top-up be necessary.

Halfords pledged its support to National Oil Check Week after Comma’s research revealed that 17 per cent of UK motorists never check their oil. This came on top of Halfords research concluding that 23 per cent of GB drivers are neither willing nor able to check oil levels and top up their oil.2

These shocking statistics show that millions of motorists are putting themselves at risk of huge repair bills through lack of car maintenance skills or pure laziness.

As well as providing a free oil check service during National Oil Check Week, Halfords colleagues will also be able to advise customers on the right oil for their car. With car technology constantly changing, engines now require tailored oils to ensure best performance and smooth running.
